Competition Progress
The competition is now closed!
Well done to all the shortlisted students who have completed the second and final stage of the competition. The judges will be meeting this week to choose their three finalists, who will be announced here shortly after.
The chosen finalists will be invited to the Pairs Motor Show to see their work displayed to the professional design community, and to partake in an exclusive awards ceremony to announce the overall winner.
The ceremony will take place at the Opel/Vauxhall stand on Friday 28th September, we can't wait!
Good luck to you all for the final judging. Remember to check the website this Friday to see who the finalists are!
Phase 2 is now open!
I am pleased to announce that the second phase of the CDN-Opel/Vauxhall competition is now live. This phase is only open to the seven shortlisted students and their challenge is now to develop both their Interior and Exterior designs from Phase 1 into a final entry, with guidance from their own personal mentor, a leading design expert from Opel/Vauxhall.
If you are not one of the shortlisted students from Phase 1, I'm afraid you cannot enter this final phase of the competition. However, you can still make comments on any of the seven entries and give them your thoughts and advice.
Three finalists will be chosen from the current seven that are shortlisted, and they will be announced at the beginning of September.
They will all be invited to attend the prize-giving at the Paris Motor Show at the end of September. Here, their work will be displayed to the professional design community and the winner of the paid internship at Opel/Vauxhall will be announced.
We wish all the shortlisted students the best of luck in this final phase!
Your exteriors are looking great BUT...
We have had a solid number of entries now for the Exterior part of the competition but you need to remember to also enter the INTERIOR part for your entry to be counted. You need to have entered BOTH parts of the competition to be taken forward to the final judging. You have until 4th May to submit your Interior entry and I suggest you start uploading some initial ideas soon, in order to get as much feedback from the judges as possible.
Good luck!
Show me your interior!
I've been commenting on the exterior entries most of the weekend and they're looking great. But when I clicked to have a look at the interior entries I was really sad to see we only had a handful of entries. Remember that the interior of the car is likely to be the area that will see most change in the next decade and the as an interior designer, your current job prospects are very good. So let's see those interiors for the 2020 Ampera!Starting points
Very pleased we're getting such a positive response to the competition! Great to see your entries. Remember, before you launch into sketching, it's worth putting together some mood boards - not just of automotive products - to inspire you and guide you through your work. Remember also to critically analyse Opel/Vauxhall's current design language - which parts of it are most strong, and might you take forward in your design? Good luck!Time to upload your entry!
Hello students,Just a quick note to remind you to start uploading any ideas, mood boards, sketches etc as soon as you have them. You do not have to upload any final entries until May, so this time can be spent uploading your inital ideas, and getting the most feedback possible from the competition mentors!
The sooner you begin submitting work, the more feedback you will receive and the more your design can develop.
