I began to design car sketches since I was a child. Cars is my passion. I firstly studied surveying engineer, but my dream was to be a designer. Then I decided to study industrial design, and now I am student in a tecnical design scool.

exterior of Ampera 2020

Bookmark and Share Here is a very first sketch of my opinion of the exterior of Ampera 2020. The project pictured includes some design characteristics from Opel DNA that made some cars of the company unique. I missed from today's models the design of Opel Vectra B mirrors, so I am inspired from this in the design of the mirrors. The front of my project has the "X" characteristic from the Ampera of today. At my opinion this is the characteristic that make the today's Ampera Unique. That's why I added this in my project. The front is also inspired from the second generation of Opel Omega. Suicide doors of today's Opel Meriva icluded also in my project. Finally the back is influenced form another "back to the future" Opel model the Tigra A. I hope that you 'll like it.

new entry with minor improvements (redisigned front mask, side windows and some smooth tools used) and better rendering. I hope that you 'll like it

nice model! one of the few digital ones in competition. Which software did you use? With some more professional rendering your model could look even more better

This is a 3d model based on sketches included in 1st and 2nd moodboard and on the sketch of the side view added earlier. Except from the inspirations presented in moodboards, there are many ones from other Opel cars from the past and the present, as well as from cars from other brands. Of course the front refers to Opel Ampera of today, and the mirrors to Opel Vectra B. The windshield is extended to hood’s place like the “sintesy“ concept car made by Pinifarina. The lights have the basic form of today’s Opel Ampera but they are thinner. Lights are extended in the front wing until they reach the wheels. They made so, in order to refer to front small lights of today’s Opel Astra and Opel Insignia. Also front glasses are extended , until they reach the place of the wheels. I imagine that front and back doors will open like ones of Lamborghini Countach. The roof could be made of glass. The back is inspired mainly from Opel Meriva and less from Volvo C30. I hope that you like it.

I uploaded a video in which I describe my ispiration for creating my project. "Balance and leadership" are the two keywords that inspired me. Opel Ampera should satisfy opposite needs like beeing sporty and roomy, speedy and ecological. Todey's Opel Ampera managed that well. I think that 2020 model will manage this targets better as the today's model. Of course with the help of us! :-)

Good start, I can see quite a bit of work has gone into this. A couple of recommendations I'd make. Firstly, it's always good to start without sketching - show us your inspiration, develop themes, think about the package of the car. Who's the customer? Where will it be used. You need to show the judges how your thinking on this is and how it progresses and influences the design. Then when you begin sketching, maybe develop 2d side, front and rear profiles first, then 'bring the design together' in 3d slowly, to help your perspective and the overall volumes of the vehicle. Good luck.

Thank you for your comment. In few simple words, you "sketched" the guidelines I have to follow

Good job dude. My first impression is that your design has great prospects to end in a very interesting model. Although stay focused on your unique main idea and vision of 2020 car. It would be nice if you upload some other views of your model to help us have a more specific opinion of the characteristics you are talking about.

thank you! your words are encouraging me to continue..Maybe my first sketch has to do with a today's car and not with a 2020 one
