Judging/ Finalists/ Prizes

The competition ran in two phases: the initial phase in Winner OVSpring/Summer 2011 asked students to design
a vehicle interior; and the second, exterior phase, took place in Fall/Winter 2011.

July 4th 2011 - This was the deadline for entries to the Interiors phase. After this date, the six judges
met in Hollywood to choose the finalists.

Summer 2011 - The finalists were chosen from  each of the four brands (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC) and were announced before the launch of the second phase of the competition. The second phase of the competition launched on August 8th.

November 2011 - After the closing date for entries, the same judging process applied as for the Interiors phase.

Tuesday 10 January 2012 - The finalists' entries were displayed at the 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. GM announced their eight chosen winners announced (one from each of the 4 brands, from each competition phase). Two of our competition partners, Dassault and Faurecia, also announced their separate chosen winners.

Two of our competition partners, Dasssault and Faurecia, also chose their own individual winners from across the 4 briefs. They also offered these two lucky students a paid internship at
their design studios.

This meant that there was a total of 10 internships on offer.

Maximum Publicity for finalists

The work of the chosen finalists was publicized to the global professional design community, both online at Car Design News, and at the NAIAS in Detroit in January 2012. This degree of exposure is invaluable to young, aspiring car designers looking to impress.

A great way to kick-start their career!
